How To Spring Clean Your Life

Do you look forward to doing Spring cleaning at home?

If you are like me, the feeling of getting rid of the “old”, and those things that you no longer need, and instead, keeping only those that you love, makes you feel accomplished and renewed.

As I do Spring cleaning in my house, I also feel inclined to look at my life in its different areas, and I focus on those that are in need of being “Spring cleaned” as well.

Doing Spring cleaning helps me start, change, or get rid of things, relationships, habits, patterns of thoughts, etc., that are no longer working for me so that I intentionally keep living my life in a way that makes me happy.

You can take advantage of this season to do the same.

The first thing you need to do is to honestly take a closer look at each area of your life (your health, relationships, work, finances, environment, spirituality, etc.) and do an inventory of the things that you no longer want to have, experience, or that need improvement.

Sometimes this process of noticing will make you feel negative emotions, but instead of running away from these feelings, take a closer look at whatever is making you uncomfortable, since that is giving you a clue where to focus to make improvements.

Then, take action. Start in the following areas:

Clean Your Relationships
Is there something that you can improve in your relationship with your partner? How about with your children?

Are you putting up with a friendship because you don’t want to “rock the boat” even though you keep feeling that something is off?

Do you have a great relationship with the people you work with? with your boss? your clients? If not, it might be time to let some of these relationships go or do something to improve them.

Declutter Your Mind & Your Emotions

Are your mood swings driving you crazy? Do you dwell on negative emotions such as anger, pessimism, jealousy or hatred?

Are you always thinking: “I’m not good enough”, “I can’t”, “No one loves/likes me”, “Why me?”, “If someone hadn’t done X, then I would be able to Y”, “If the situation wasn’t X, then I would be able to Y”, “I don’t know how to…”

Is fear in the driver’s seat of your life? Are you holding any grudges?

These thoughts and feelings will not help you live a full-feeling, happy life.

If you decide to keep them by doing nothing to change your mindset, you will have a victim mentality that will keep you feeling powerless, living in the same situation for yet another year, and underestimating your ability to grow and thrive in your one and only precious life.

So if you know that negative thoughts and feelings are present in your daily experience, it is time for you to take action and learn new ways to heal and get rid of them.

Fortunately, today there are so many resources to help you deal with and heal negative patterns of thoughts, emotions, stress and anxiety.

And the best is that you don’t have to do it all alone!
Look for a support group, get coaching, ask for help, pray, read books and/or find information online on how to deal with your issue.

But you must have the intention to heal yourself and take actionDo not let another year slip by, feeling like you are a victim of your circumstances, you can successfully learn how to be in control of your life!

Clear Your Schedule

Are you letting your time slip away by doing things that waste your time or that you don’t enjoy? How about saying “yes” to too many commitments leaving you no time to do what really matters?

Do you put everyone else’s needs on top of your own and end up feeling like your life is a boring routine filled only with responsibilities? Do you feel like you do not have any Life Balance?

If so, you may need to clear your schedule and intentionally make room for a good mix of responsibilities and satisfying and meaningful experiences, so that you can wake up feeling excited about your day.

Despite of what many people say and believe, Life Balance does exist, and you too can have it!

“I always feel happy! , you know why?  Because I don’t expect anything from anyone. Expectations always hurt. Life is short. So love your life. Be happy and keep smiling. Just live for yourself and before you speak, listen. Before you write, think. Before you spend, earn. Before you pray, forgive. Before you hurt, feel. Before you hate, love. Before you quit, try. Before you die, live.”  – William Shakespeare
